OutFIGHT of the Day: how to style a one-shoulder dress
I absolutely love winter, especially the very mild variety that we get down here in Brasil. When temperatures drop, outfits get more styling and infinitely more fun, buuuut I’m not gonna lie – after a few months of chilly weather, hot days are very welcome. And since the sun decided to show up and give us some super hot days this weekend, I decided to put together a fresh, colorful outfit. That’s what this OutFIGHT was all about: how to style a one-shoulder dress for a hot weekend day. Let’s get to OutFIGHTing!
I got this one-shoulder dress at American Apparel and I love it because not only is it super cute, it’s also a great color. Deep purple looks really good on fair skin!
I feel like I haven’t put on some sandals in months, so for this OutFIGHT, open-toed shoes were an absolute priority. I put on my tribal embroidered shoes from Aldo, but those of you who know me will remember my very strange little obsession: if I’m going to wear a lot of different colors, at least one color needs to be repeated in two pieces. And these shoes do not have purple in them! Go ahead and judge me!
So I decided to do something like color blocking: only solid colors for this look! I picked out my yellow Calvin Klein strappy sandals (after all, purple+yellow is everything) and now we’re talking!
And then, as per usual, I changed my mind. Color blocking is cool, but my leopard-print belt from M.Officer is cooler. I felt that I needed to evidence my waist a little bit (because it makes us look thinner!) and this belt is perfect for that.
When it came time to chose a bag, I knew I wanted something close to yellow, but I was very much in doubt between Lancel’s Brigitte Bardot bag, yellow messenger from Accessorize, or orange clutch from Louis Vuitton. I ended up going for the clutch because I like the idea of throwing in another bright color.
I finished the look off with very few accessories: ear cuff and phalange ring from Asos and a ring from Arezzo. The details are in the gallery below:
