7 summer 2016 fashion trends straight out of NYFW

NYFW

Want to know what summer 2016 fashion trends were absolute hits at New York Fashion Week?

So yesterday marked the end of one of my favorite fashion weeks – New York. As usual I pretty much drooled with every show and of course, put together a little list of all the trends that marked this season. And here it goes!

Summer 2016 fashion trends NYFW

7 summer fashion trends straight out of NYFW.

1) Shoulders

One of the most-seen trends on the runway was exposed shoulders. So go ahead and pick out your favorite off-the-shoulder tops or shoulder cut-outs and let those shoulders do the talking!

2) Midi

Midi skirts continue popping up all over, and next summer will be no different. So go ahead and show those ankles with midi skirts, pants, dresses…

 3) Slits

I have yet to find a woman who doesn’t feel super sexy in a slitted skirt, so this is great news for us girls! Slits were see all over the NYFW runways, and will be showing legs all over town next summer.

4) Sheer

Sheer pieces mark their presence every season, and Summer 2016 is no different. From casual looks to party dresses, transparency was seen all over!

5) Round glasses

Round glasses have been gaining popularity over the last few seasons, and if the runway is any indication, they will continue to do so! Which is awesome, considering they’re super cool! So if you haven’t yet, go get yourself a pair!

6) Terninhos

Classic suits never go out of style, but for the summer they come in not-so-classic versions such as leather, satin, with out without buttons… WANT!

7) Vests

Expect to see vests all over next summer. On the runway, they were seen worn in a million ways – short, long, with fringes, with sparkles, in leather… Check your closet, I’m sure there’s one in there just waiting to see the light of day again!
NYFW was full of previews of what’s gonna be hot next summer, but the season is just getting started. We’ve still got London, Milan, Paris…. so stay tuned!

Here’s the #1 most important thing you need to lose weight and keep it off #MondayBunday

a coisa mais importante para emagrecer

Do you know what is the first and most important step to take in order to lose weight and keep it off?

One of the questions I hear most often around here is how to start a healthy weight-loss program that will last. A lot of girls think I will answer with an “eat less” or a “work out more,” but the truth is that reaching our body goals goes way beyond that, and is much less tangible than the old diet+exercise.

The most important thing that you need to lose weight and keep it off is self love and acceptance.

Ok, I know that sounds corny and a bit cliché, but if you were to believe in a single thing I have to say, let this be it. It all starts from within, and losing weight is no different!

I’m a very good example of this, as my journey through weightloss was not at all easy. In fact, it was full of obstacles, relapses, and “the accordion effect”. And you know why? Because I refused to accept my body, my genetics, and my limitations.

I’ve always found the model body really appealing. I dreamed of the tall, slender figure, but I’m actually the exact opposite. At 5’4”, my genetics gave me large breasts and thick thighs, and to pull me even further from that “dream body”, I gain weight with each additional leaf of lettuce. Even so, I insisted, and I went through phases of three intense workouts a day, diets of less than 800 daily calories and even a dangerous flirtation with bulimia. Anything to attain the unattainable.

And then, of course, I fell sick, both physically and psychologically. To recover, I went through a lot of therapy, nutritional monitoring and soul searching, and with all that came the most valuable lesson in my life: to accept and love myself.

I will never be stick-thin and tall. Sure, I have thick, strong legs, but I also have a body that responds very well to physical stimulus and with exercise that is right for me, I can lose fat and see muscle definition.  My growth spurt ended ten years ago and I will never be tall, but my small body fits perfectly in the arms of my boyfriend who I love so dearly. And sure, I can have a flat tummy, but only if I give up eating the sweets that are so good for my soul. They are choices, and each one is based on the acceptance of my body and on realistic goals for myself. After all, what good does staving myself do if I will never be skin-and-bones and healthy at the same time? And what’s the point of wishing I was taller if my body stopped producing growth hormones a decade ago? Once I accepted the body I have, I was able to set goals to improve myself, not torture myself.

And this is valid for all of us! For this reason, this is my advice: look at yourself in the miror and be honest with yourself. What can you improve and how? What must you accept? What are your realistic body goals and how can you achieve them? What are the steps that you have to take to accept your imperfections (those imperfections that make you uniquely beautiful) and love yourself more each day? Repete your mantras to yourself frequently. Remind yourself that you are beautiful and be grateful each day for your perfect body.

Once you accept and love the body you have, then you will be able to adopt a diet and exercise routine that is right for your body and soul, and all the rest will come naturally. I promise!

What do you guys think? Leave your comments below and share this post, afterall, we all need to be reminded that we are beautiful every now and then.

Trend alert! How to wear two bags at once

como usar duas bolsas ao mesmo tempoHave you ever thought of wearing two bags simultaneously??

If you haven’t, now’s a good time to start! Wearing two bags at once (the trend that has been given the unfortunate name of double bagging) is a rising fashion trend. And if we already love carrying one great bag, why not go ahead and do two, right? Hahaha!

But let’s get a few things clear: the idea isn’t necessarily throwing on two random bags, but coordinating a tote with a mini bag, mixing two shoulder bags, or maybe even wearing two identical ones. The possibilities are endless, so let’s check out how to do it!  👇

Where did the idea for wearing two bags simultaneously come from?

Double bagging has been a thing since it started showing up on the winter 2016 runways, with a few different brands bringing in their versions.

Chloé strutted two similar bags in different sizes, while Dolce & Gabbana put together a large, everyday bag in a neutral color with an ornamental mini bag. I found it super cute and can definitely picture using the mini bag for essentials like lipstick and iPhone. Mulberry mixed a maxi bag with a mini bag in the same color, and it looks awesome!

Like I always say, let’s not get caught up with rules. There are a million ways to wear this trend, so what you see below is mere inspiration.

Two shoulder bags

Shoulder bags can be worn crossed over the chest or, like the name suggests, over one shoulder, and can be adjusted to various heights, which makes them super versatile and easy to mix and match. And you can get a result wearing two of the same bags or two different ones.

Two of the same bags in different colors

If you are like me, when you really like an item you go ahead and buy it in a bunch of different colors. and bags are no different! If you have two of the same bag in different colors, throw them on and be happy!

Two different bags in the same color

Mulberry gave a great example of how to wear two totally different style bags in the same color, and it looks GOOD. You can wear a really big one with a smaller shoulder bag, an everyday tote with a mini bag…

One big everyday bag and a mini bag

If you’re not exactly sure about this trend, starting slow is a good idea. Try wearing your normal everyday bag with a mini bag, which turns out to look more like an acessory than an extra bag.

A bag and a clutch

Another idea for those of you that aren’t exactly convinced: wear a bag and hold a clutch – its one of the most low-key way of wearing two bags!

But remember, we make our own style, so go ahead and try new ways of wearing to bags at once and show me either by e-mailing me or by using the #lucianalevy hashtag on Instagram!

So, what do you guys think? Are you gonna get into the double bagging trend? Leave your comments below and if you like this post, help me spread the love by sharing it!
